About Progressing Perfectly

Strive for progress, not perfection!

It is our promise to provide a safe and supportive environment that can help you achieve emotional healing and personal growth. Through the use of genuine understanding, compassionate care and evidence based therapeutic practices, we will help you develop and achieve goals that lead to you being the best version of yourself!

Our team maintains certifications as trauma professionals and as mood disorder treatment professionals. Areas of specialty and experience include treatment of adjustment to major life changes, alcohol and drug use, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, self-esteem, trauma and PTSD. We are LGBTQ affirming and welcome individuals looking to explore and feel confident in their gender and sexual identity!

Treatment Expectations

During the first session, you can expect that we will explore your current symptoms and stressors. Over the next few sessions, we will work together to form a therapeutic relationship and focus our counseling sessions by setting goals, which we will continue to assess throughout the counseling process.

Our counseling approach includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). CBT challenges your thinking patterns and how these can influence your emotions and behaviors. DBT guides you to develop mindfulness skills, distress tolerance skills, interpersonal effectiveness skills and emotional regulation skills.

The outcome of your treatment depends on your willingness to engage in this process, which may, at times, result in some emotional discomfort. Remembering unpleasant events and becoming aware of feelings attached to those events can bring on strong feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, etc. There are no miracle cures. I cannot promise that your behavior or circumstance will change. We promise to support you and do my absolute best to understand you, as well as to help you clarify what it is that you want for yourself.

SERVICES

Services

We are currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, Oxford, Oscar Health and United Healthcare (UHC, UBH, UMR). It is important to note that some health insurance companies will reimburse clients for counseling services, and some will not. If you do not have insurance or choose to pay out of pocket, the cost for the first session will be discussed with a member of our team. The cost for future ongoing appointments will be determined during the intake process. Accepted methods of payment include cash or credit/debit cards.

Sessions are scheduled to be 50 minutes in duration. The frequency of counseling appointments varies between individuals from monthly to weekly appointments. It is important to establish regularity among the counseling process and it is expected that the sessions begin and end on time. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please give at least a 24-hour notice of cancellation. If notice of cancellation is not given at least 24-hours in advance, you may be responsible for the full price of the missed appointment. To cancel or reschedule an appointment, please send an email to [email protected].

A recurring problem with cancellations or missed appointments may result in termination of services. Please do not appear for a session under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If this occurs the session will be cancelled, and you will be charged the full amount for the appointment.
